Numerical and Experimental Study of Nose for LOx Floating Ring Seal in Turbopump

چکیده

Floating ring seals are widely used as a leakage control solution for turbomachines because they effectively operate with small clearances between the shaft and seal. The oxidizer pump of 7 tonf liquid engine in Korea Space Launch Vehicle II (KSLV-II) operates at high rotational speeds under cryogenic conditions has floating bearing cooling path to reduce leakages. In this study, we evaluated frictional force acting on nose turbopump using numerical analysis, investigated radial induced by vibration rotor flow characteristics around Through comparison forces according change diameter noses, also estimated dynamic positioning ring. addition, examined speed gap size ring, results data designing Finally, performed real-propellant tests seal middle finding that test result was good agreement analysis.
